Description
Chez is a visual artist from Birmingham, now based in West London. Working primarily with spray paint, she is drawn to its immediacy and refusal of permission. Her practice began painting in London’s Leake Street tunnel, where she started working directly onto surfaces that already carried their own history.
Using reclaimed materials collected across the city, including road signs and torn posters, Chez builds her own version of a canvas, layered, imperfect, and shaped by the urban environment.
In August 2025, she took part in the Kingston Spray Paint Street Festival. Later that year, in November 2025, she held her first solo exhibition, Shared Ground, placing wildlife into systems of control and public space, reclaiming surfaces originally designed for instruction and authority.
Her work continues to evolve through the tension between street instinct and studio precision.
