Description
This is not a shop. It is a cultural space for people who believe clothing should be made once, made well, and made again. Volume 001 brings a curated group of designers together for four days in Notting Hill: rails, music, coffee, conversation. A place to meet the makers behind the clothes, not just the clothes themselves.
Alterist is The Home of Upcycled Fashion — a platform bringing together independent and emerging designers transforming existing materials into one-of-one pieces and limited collections. Founded in 2020 by activists Hannah Standen and Martina Sorghi, Alterist was created in response to fashion’s textile waste problem and the need for better ways to use what already exists. Today, its community spans 200+ upcycle designers across 18 countries, working with pre-loved garments, deadstock, surplus textiles and discarded materials. Alongside its online marketplace, Alterist has a permanent concept store at Netil Market in London Fields, where customers can shop emerging designers and discover a programme of workshops and events bringing together fashion, art and music. Alterist also works directly with brands and manufacturers through its upcycle studio, transforming surplus stock and materials into new products, collections, campaigns and experiences, turning waste into a starting point for creativity, culture and design.
