Works In Conversation

With a collection of recent work, the show highlights how wildly different mediums, practices, and visual languages come together and interact. Work spans painting, printmaking, drawing, multimedia collage, textiles, photographic techniques, mixed media, and ceramics.

The Bakery has a somewhat unusual approach to curation. All of the member artists bring a collection of their latest work, and the Gallery Director and the presenting artists collaborate to develop a cohesive show from a subset of that work. Inevitably, themes surface, and from a group of disparate pieces of art, a collection emerges where works “talk to” and enhance each other, highlighting similarities and differences, eventually creating something where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Works in Conversation is a window into the diversity of contemporary art being created at this moment.
